Here's a little something about Japanese music.
PV = promotional videos aka music videos

Rigth about december time a ton of j-artists will come w/ their christmas singles.
Japanese music sales is a little different from English music. They tend to sell their songs by singles(individual songs plus insert songs) rather than the entire album. Japanese music chart(similar to the Billboard chart) is called Oricon Chart.Oricon also have movie, books, anime, and other media rankings too. Different type of music genres would make the chart. However, since there are so many artists with new single out each week, it's very hard to stay on the Oricon Chart for long(unless the fans are very addicted to the group). Japanese called their music videos PV (promotional video). You can find tons of PV on-line. You can find some good PV sample @ JpopAsia. Theme song from popular anime, drama, video games, and movie tend to make it to Oricon too. Here's a sample of Japanese PV
